2014 The polymorphism of a new series 4-[-4"-alkoxy-cinnamoyloxy] benzylidene-4’-cyanoaniline was studied and a re-entrant nematic phase was observed for the three homologues n = 8, 9, 10. The decyloxy compound exhibits the unusual N SA SC Nre sequence. For the first time, phase diagrams connected with X-ray analysis confirm this result. The partial bilayer SC notion is introduced. J.
